Growing the Sheffield Digital team

Emma Marshall joins our freelance team as Company Membership manager

Sheffield Digital is aiming to strengthen its relationships with digital businesses in the region with the appointment of Emma Marshall as its new company membership manager. Emma’s remit will involve working with businesses to better understand their needs, provide more value to them and connect them more closely with each other and with other key organisations and initiatives in the city.

Emma Marshall is a familiar face on the Sheffield digital scene. Formerly managing director at Technophobia/G2G3 Digital and, more recently, operations director at 3Squared, Emma has first-hand experience of what it takes to build and run a successful tech business. Emma is also one of the founders of Sheffield Women in Tech (ShfWIT) and a non-executive director of Sheffield Chamber of Commerce.

Emma says: “I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Sheffield Digital as their company membership manager. I’ve long admired the organisation and its mission: ‘To help develop a great environment for setting up, working in and growing digital businesses in Sheffield and the surrounding region.’ This fits in perfectly with my ethos to nurture, grow and watch our region’s tech companies thrive. I look forward to meeting all our company members to understand their needs and what Sheffield Digital can do to help.”

Emma joins the small team of part-time freelancers who support Sheffield Digital and its volunteer board of directors. The new role has been put in place to help the organisation keep up with the growth of the local tech industry and make sure that it stays relevant and responsive. Emma’s role compliments that of Sarah Lister, who supports the community of individual members and meet-up organisers that are such an important part of the city’s digital scene.

Chris Dymond, one of Sheffield Digital’s founders and directors, adds: “Sheffield Digital’s strength comes from our network of members, both company and individual, and the incredibly supportive community they create. We want to make sure that the organisation is both responsive and sustainable, and we’re delighted to have Emma join us on that mission. Her background, connections and experience are going to be a terrific asset.”

Emma will be getting in touch with company members over the coming weeks, but if you would like to say hello before then (or find out more about company membership if you haven’t joined yet) you can contact her via email: emma@sheffield.digital.
