Sheffield Hallam University, in conjunction with the University of Sheffield and other key contributors, are working on a ‘Future Leaders Programme’ for graduate employees across the Sheffield City Region (SCR).
What’s the programme about?
Despite a higher than average percentage of graduates choosing to gain employment in the city (and region), after two to three years, a larger than average number of these are choosing to leave.
In support of the SCR Inclusive Growth Strategy, this project aims to understand further the specific challenges and barriers within the SCR business community in relation to short and medium-term graduate retention.
The proposed output will be a co-created, distinct ‘Future Leaders’ postgraduate level programme that will support long-term leadership development, talent retention and business growth.
How employers can help
As an employer in the region, your input to help shape the programme would be extremely valuable. There are a number of ways you can get involved.
- Take a short, two-question survey to share some of your own thoughts and experience on the issue of graduate retention.
- Come along to a breakfast briefing on Thursday 17th May to find out more about the project, how you can help shape it, and how it could support your own talent retention and progression.
If you can’t make the briefing, you can email Danielle Bhalla (Project Manager) at d.bhalla@shu.ac.uk or give her a call on 0114 225 2727.
