We’re searching for a versatile and passionate Developer to join our dynamic team, focusing on our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) – Blackboard Ultra.
The Mission:
In this exciting role, you’ll ensure that our Blackboard Ultra VLE isn’t just a standalone platform, but a vibrant ecosystem of integrated tools and data. You’ll work at the intersection of various institutional systems, making sure information flows smoothly and efficiently, ultimately empowering our users with a truly unified and intuitive learning experience.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Designing and Developing Robust Integrations: You’ll be responsible for the full lifecycle of integrations with Blackboard Ultra, from initial design and requirements gathering to development, testing, and deployment.
- Connecting Critical Systems: You’ll build and maintain integrations with a diverse range of systems, including our student information system (CIS), SITS, SAP and third-party educational tools.
- Optimising Data Flow: You’ll ensure the efficient and accurate transfer of data, including user accounts, course enrollments, grades, and analytics, between Blackboard Ultra and other platforms.
- Solving Complex Challenges: You’ll troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, identifying and addressing both data and technology problems as well as potential concerns.
- Collaborating and Innovating: You’ll work closely with VLE administrators, business analysts, other development teams, and external vendors to understand needs, recommend solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring:
- Experience: A solid background in software development with a strong focus on event driven and ETL system integrations.
- API Expertise: Hands-on experience working with RESTful APIs, and other integration technologies, with a keen interest in Cloud.
- Programming Proficiency: Strong programming skills in languages relevant to integration development (e.g. Python, Java etc).
- Data Savvy: Experience with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and data manipulation.
- Problem-Solving: Aptitude for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
- Collaborative Spirit: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team and with non-technical stakeholders.
- Passion for Learning: A genuine interest in educational technology and a desire to make a real impact on the learning journey.
