Welcoming Shakespeare Martineau to Sheffield Digital

We are delighted to announce that the full service law firm is joining us as an Associate Sponsor.

Since arriving in Sheffield in 2021, Shakespeare Martineau has already become well integrated in the city’s digital scene, recognising its potential and the upwards trajectory we are on. From delivering seminars at the AMRC to offering legal drop-ins at Sheffield Tech Parks and joining our events, the team are already becoming friendly and familiar faces, as well as playing an important part in the tech ecosystem. That’s why we are delighted to bring Shakespeare Martineau on board as an Associate Sponsor of Sheffield Digital.

Shakespeare Martineau is a full service law firm, with offices across the UK. Its sister brand, Lime, has been in Sheffield for many years and Shakespeare Martineau decided to join them and grow its Sheffield presence in 2021.

The Sheffield team has specialists in a wide range of legal services, including commercial contracts, intellectual property (IP), corporate services, healthcare and charity governance. They have a sharp focus on the tech and digital sector in the city and have built their services around the full lifecycle of tech companies.

Carys Thompson, Solicitor and Partner at Shakepeare Martineau, specialising in Commercial Contracts, explains,

“We love working with digital and tech businesses. Our Sheffield lawyers have specific expertise in technology law, including the intellectual property underpinning digital services, as well as the protection of data and the governance of large-scale IT projects.

“Our corporate offering also means that we are well placed to advise tech-enabled companies in raising investment, acquisitions, disposals and exits. We offer a ‘full lifecycle’ service, dedicated to ensuring tech businesses in Sheffield thrive and to help them achieve their objectives.”

We’re looking forward to working closely with Shakespeare Martineau, helping them to engage with our members and enabling our community to access resources, insight and the services of award-winning lawyers. You’ll see the team at local events, as well as hearing from them on the Sheffield Digital blog whenever we need the input of legal experts.

The team at Sheffield Martineau are equally excited about joining our community, as Carys explains:

“Sheffield has a vibe that is not replicated in many other cities. The city is home to many inspiring individuals and companies who are dedicated to helping digital services and tech products succeed both on a national and international stage. If we can be even a small part of that, we’re very excited.”
