Applications are now open for the 2016 Northern Stars start-up competition, with the first pitching event taking place in Sheffield on 8th September.
Northern Stars is a pitch competition that seeks to identify and showcase the best tech startups in the North of England. It works through an online application process, supported by a series of Regional Pitch events (there will be three this year), culminating in a Grand Final where 10 winning companies are chosen by a high-profile panel of judges.
Tech North want to hear from early-stage tech and digital startups from across the tech sector and of all shapes and sizes, working on everything from AI, VR and IoT, to drones, HealthTech, EdTech, Games and more.
Last year, three Sheffield start-ups were amongst the 10 winners: Airstoc, IN-Part and Receptive.
To qualify, you need to:
- Be a digital tech startup based in the North of England
- Have raised less than £2m investment
- Have a live product with customers & demonstrable traction
- Be prepared to develop and deliver a 3 minute pitch
This year’s prize package includes stands at TechCrunch Disrupt and TNW, an investor pitch event at Bloomberg and entrance to the Northern Tech Awards.
