NetShape® teaches robots to cut, grind, polish and inspect metal
About Rivelin
Rivelin’s mission is to bring advanced robotics to the mainstream. We exist to unlock the automation of jobs that are too hazardous, strenuous, or unpleasant to do by hand. Skilled metalworking and machining are vital crafts for manufacturing the everyday items we rely on. As job preferences move away from manual labor, we aim to accelerate the transition toward safer, cleaner digital manufacturing powered by software, mechatronics, and AI.
We’re seeking resourceful, collaborative optimists who see opportunities instead of roadblocks. You’ll join a dynamic, growth-oriented team, shaping the future of manufacturing as Rivelin’s first Data Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and management of scalable, secure, and highly available AWS-based infrastructure for Rivelin’s NetShape and robotics platforms.
- Develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to automate software delivery and deployment.
- Oversee and optimize the use of AWS tools, including but not limited to: EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC, Cognito, DynamoDB, IoT Core, IoT Greengrass, Glue, Athena, SES, and QuickSight.
- Implement and maintain secure data exchange models (including Rivelin-hosted and customer-sovereign AWS architectures), with strong focus on mTLS/HTTPS, IAM, Cognito, JWT, oAuth, and group-based permissions.
- Drive the adoption and integration of AWS QuickSight for analytics and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with software, robotics, and AI teams to deliver infrastructure that accelerates product development and supports operational data flows, device updates, and licensing.
- Champion cybersecurity across all systems, ensuring compliance, proactive risk management, and excitement for security as a core part of the role.
- Mentor and support engineering teams in DevOps, data engineering, and platform best practices.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a senior DevOps, Data Engineering, or Platform Lead role, ideally in a high-growth or deep-tech environment.
- Deep expertise with AWS, including hands-on experience with the tools listed above.
- Strong background in automation (e.g., AWS CDK), monitoring, and logging.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage secure, scalable cloud infrastructure, including edge computing and IoT device management.
- Excitement for cybersecurity and a track record of implementing secure systems.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Desirable
- Passion for AI-driven product development, with practical knowledge of neural networks (e.g. CNNs, ViTs), LLMs, and agentic ML.
- Experience in robotics, manufacturing, or IoT environments.
- Familiarity with MLOps and deploying machine learning models at scale.
- Proficiency in Python and Bash.
- Experience using SQL.
Work Environment
- Our stack includes (but is not limited to): EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC, Cognito, DynamoDB, IoT Core, IoT Greengrass, Glue, Athena, SES, and QuickSight. For a full list, please ask during the final stages of the hiring process.
