The .NET Technology Consultancy

Agile, waterfall, chaos – they all have one thing in common, people. However a project is run, all of the successful ones have one thing in common; great people with the right mindset.

We believe that excellent project management is a key ingredient to success. We are looking for someone who understands the balance between vision and practicality and who is a stickler for getting things right, on time and on budget and being flexible throughout the process to make this happen.

Now let’s get to the most important bit of this – you! You may currently be in a similar role looking for a new adventure or the next challenge. You may be in a slightly different role, maybe working as a project manager and looking for your next challenge to fulfil the desire to be stretched. We don’t expect you to have 10 years of experience doing exactly this and we certainly don’t expect you to “know everything”.

We are looking for the following traits:

  • Think like a grandmaster.
  • Be prepared.
  • Be “on-it”
  • Have an interest and passion for technology.

Let’s delve into each of these in a bit more detail.

Think like a grandmaster

Grandmasters don’t think about their next move, they think about 12 moves ahead and this is what a Senior Project Manager does. They are real life AlphaGo’s and have an uncanny ability to take action now that unravels to being as elegant as move 37. If you haven’t seen the documentary, you might enjoy it.

Be prepared

Good scouts are always prepared and you are too. You are proactive rather than reactive and you like to sit in quadrant 2 of the Eisenhower Decision Matrix. Chance favours the prepared mind and this is you all over.

Be “on-it”

Being on it is a synergy or even a result of thinking like a grandmaster and being prepared. You are ON-IT! Very rarely do you get a curve ball you hadn’t anticipated or at least got an avenue for. You are already “on-it” before people even notice it’s a “thing”, that’s how on-it you are!

An Interest and Passion for Technology

Loving what you do is important. Being able to relate and get excited about what we do is important. You don’t have to be able to write code, or create a machine learning model but be interested and inquisitive about them and truly want to learn more. The interest breeds a deeper understanding and empathy for what you are focusing on. We love technology and people thrive here who love technology too.

Now you have a bit more of an understanding about the type of person we are after, here are a few of the tasks and responsibilities that you would have:

  • Manage multiple projects of medium-to-large size simultaneously, through the entire project life cycle
  • Experience in an agency setting or working with multiple external stakeholders across projects
  • Contribute to thoughtful and creative discussions with project  stakeholders on strategic goals, resources, scheduling, plans and challenges
  • Be meticulous about budget management and project control and understand the balance and crucially commercial value
  • Experience of a variety of project approaches and methodologies including agile, lean and waterfall (yes they all have their place)
  • Experience building relationships with senior-level clients through working to understand the problems they need to solve, and empathise with their challenges and constraints
  • Experience of complex “resource” planning.
  • Have the communications skills to be able to work closely with both clients and techies
  • The know-how to manage expectations and help clients understand our processes
  • The know-how to facilitate at various levels
  • The ability to write clear, concise and useful project documentation and communications
  • The understanding to be able to consult, by asking good questions and ignorant questions along with identifying priorities
  • The rare skill to deeply listen
