About Pipe Ten: Pipe Ten is a leading web application orchestration provider, specialising in secure infrastructure management and high-performance solutions for the fintech, edtech, and other high assurance sectors.

Role Overview: We are seeking a Junior Systems Engineer to join our engineering team and play a key role in supporting customer solutions in private data centre and cloud environments, including Azure and AWS. This position involves hands-on work in infrastructure management, security, automation, and troubleshooting, providing a strong foundation for career growth in cloud and systems engineering. The role will evolve based on individual skills and interests, offering a great opportunity to engage with a wide range of technologies across varying levels of complexity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing, deploying, and managing customer solutions in private and hybrid cloud environments with data centres and public cloud environments in Azure & AWS.
  • Support infrastructure automation and configuration management using tools like Terraform, Ansible.
  • Help monitor and maintain cloud-based infrastructure to ensure performance, availability, and security.
  • Participate in security hardening, vulnerability assessments, and incident response activities.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues.
  • Contribute to process automation, scripting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in documenting best practices, workflows, and customer solution architectures.
  • Stay updated with industry trends in cloud computing, security, and DevOps practices.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

  • Basic experience or knowledge of public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
  • Understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and automation tools such as Terraform & Ansible.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, security best practices, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Basic scripting skills in PHP, .Net, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to learning.
  • A passion for cloud computing, security, and automation.
  • Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Zabbix or Grafana.
