Are you a DevOps professional passionate about AWS, automation, and building resilient systems? We have an exciting opportunity in IT Services at the University of Sheffield for someone looking to use their expertise in Linux, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines to make a real impact on the systems we run.
We are looking for an experienced DevOps engineer who thrives on designing and running resilient infrastructure. You have hands-on experience with AWS and Terraform, and you’re excited about automating deployments using tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions. You understand the importance of network security concepts—HTTP, TLS, load balancing, DNS—and know how to apply them to create robust, scalable solutions.
Joining our innovative team you’ll be instrumental in:
- Designing and maintaining hosting for critical systems including single sign-on infrastructure and student record systems
- Building more services in AWS with increased automation for deployment and server management
- Improving resilience to meet modern security challenges and threats
- Managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Enterprise, and Jira
- Configuring servers across technologies including Apache, NGINX, Tomcat, and various Oracle technologies
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams using Agile and Scrum methodologies
