Job Description

We’re looking for someone to join the team who wants to help create truly innovative and disruptive technologies that positively impact our world. An energetic and ambitious software engineer who can turn ideas into first class technology platforms that will bring change across multiple sectors. This really is an exciting opportunity to work on some incredibly influential pioneering projects.

We’re looking for someone who will:

• Help to define client requirements, create user stories and shape sprints
• Use initiative, imagination and creativity to find solutions
• Use their coding skills to develop solutions for web, desktop, mobile, tablet, TV and other platforms
• Translate wireframes into working applications
• Write standards compliant and well commented working code
• Be immersed in internet and mobile technology and keep up-to-date with new technologies and techniques
• Manage your own workload and provide verbal updates on your progress via daily standups
• Use our project management platform to track progress

Person Specification

Our new team member must:

• Have experience with at least one of the following: Ruby, Python, C, C++ or Java
• Be self-motivated and enthusiastic
• Have a creative approach to coding with the ability to provide unique input into a project
• Be ambitious to become the best in their field
• Enjoy working with and communicating with others
• Be willing to share our values of honesty, integrity, community and fun
• Want to use technology to positively change the world

The following are desirable but not essential:

• Strong understanding and experience of object-oriented coding principles and various design patterns including MVC
• Advanced skills in either Ruby, Perl, Python, PHP or JavaScript
• Understanding of emerging technologies
• Experience of creating and working with APIs
• Experience with version control systems
• Experience developing  Android and/or iOS apps
• Experience of building databases – MySQL, noSQL
• Experience with multimedia technologies (audio, video, streaming etc.)
• Undergraduate degree in a related field
