Help University of Sheffield stay amongst world’s best

Local tech employers can support UoS's position in the QS World University Rankings, benefitting the region as a whole.

The University of Sheffield’s continued success in ranking tables and other accolades puts our city and the wider region in the global spotlight. UoS is asking local tech employers to help it maintain its prestigious reputation by contributing to the QS World University Rankings, which rely heavily on employer feedback.

When the University succeeds, so does the wider region

Awards and success in rankings tables don’t just benefit students and staff, they also benefit the brilliant businesses, organisations and not-for-profits that help make Sheffield such a wonderful place to live and work. A world-leading University attracts the brightest talent to live, work and play in the city, paying into the economy and in many cases, entering the job market upon graduation.

How you can help

The QS World University Rankings are one of the largest and most trusted of the global rankings. As an employer in the region, you have the power to shape them.

If you’re involved in hiring decisions within your organisation at any level (or have been previously), you can directly influence the QS rankings. To participate, please provide your name, organisation and email address to qs@sheffield.ac.uk by 11 November 2024.

You’ll then receive an email from the University asking you to consent to take part in the Employer Reputation survey. After agreeing, QS will contact you via rankings@qs.com between February and March 2025 with the link to complete the survey.

Why rankings matter beyond campus

The University of Sheffield consistently ranks among the world’s best, bringing global attention to the city and driving regional prosperity.

These accomplishments not only enhance the University’s reputation, but help attract research funding, industry collaborations and global talent. This, in turn, fuels innovation and ensures that the University remains a diverse, dynamic, and talented community, ready to address today’s challenges while nurturing a pipeline of graduates ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.
