South Yorkshire has announced news of an ambitious Tech Summit on Monday 10 March 2025 in Doncaster. It will focus on the future of the region’s tech economy growth, covering the themes of Money, Markets and Mainstreaming Tech.
Confirmed as the first speaker at the event is Damian Allen, Chief Executive, City of Doncaster Council, who will be joined by Mark Taylor, CEO and Founder of Doncaster-based AI specialists Automated Analytics. The fireside chat will delve into the topic of AI in Doncaster, following the recent launch of its white paper, ‘Unlocking Data, Unlocking People’ which explored how AI adoption can transform both industry and the public sector.
Tracey Johnson, Project Director for TECH SY said: “As a new project here to help scale up the tech startup ecosystem in South Yorkshire, we’re thrilled to announce our plans for this Tech Summit in March 2025. We’re excited to have Damian involved in the day, focusing on the role AI has on the region’s productivity and how it can be utilised for good at public sector level. We have bold plans for the rest of the agenda, and we will of course be announcing those in due course.”
This Summit will build on the success of the 2022 South Yorkshire Tech Summit held in Barnsley, this time taking the region’s founders, investors, and sector specialists to the Cast Theatre in Doncaster.
Tracey added: “We made the decision to host the Summit in Doncaster following the City’s ambitions to make Doncaster a Centre of Excellence for AI, as well as the recently confirmed investment to create a flagship digital tech hub.
“We’ll be welcoming a range of delegates to the event, including founders and entrepreneurs who will of course have the biggest impact on South Yorkshire’s tech economy growth, as well as investors who can expect to be impressed with what activity is happening here. We are here to support South Yorkshire’s tech ecosystem to develop, and this summit will go a long way in stimulating the activity that needs to happen for its growth.”
Damian Allen, Chief Executive, City of Doncaster Council, said: “It’s fantastic news that Doncaster will be hosting the South Yorkshire Tech Summit next year, with TECH SY. Cast is an excellent venue, which will be sure to leave a lasting impression on those coming to the summit.
“It is our mission to make Doncaster a nationally recognised Centre of Excellence for AI in the UK, so having the opportunity to welcome an audience of people who can support us in that mission is invaluable.
“The City of Doncaster Council has learnt a lot in recent years, working with Mark and the Automated Analytics team. They have bought into our journey and their insights, expertise, and partnership are highly valued as we seek to harness AI to optimise Council processes, drive efficiencies and improve the way we deliver public services. I’m looking forward to sharing our partnership story and future goals at the summit.”
Mark Taylor, CEO and Founder of Automated Analytics, said: “I believe AI is a force for good, so I’m looking forward to having an open conversation about how it can be used to unlock productivity gains in South Yorkshire at the Tech Summit. We see our work with the City of Doncaster Council as a testbed for how AI can be used to benefit residents and businesses in our region, and much wider. We want to help put South Yorkshire on the map for AI.
