Achievement unlocked – I’m delighted to present our new identity and redesigned website.

First things first – credits and thanks go to Rich Wells at Yoomee for design and to Saul Cozens and Chris Dymond for technical wrangling.

Next thing – this is not a finished product, so we expect there are bugs and things that don’t work as well as they might. Please let us know if you find something that’s broken or if you have suggestions on how it could be better.

Exciting New Features!!

We’ve started making an ecosystem Map, where we want to show all of the digital businesses, workspaces, start-ups and hangouts in and around the city. We’ve begun populating it but we need your help to fill it out. Just click on Log In and it will give you the option to create an account and add places. We will be moderating additions to make sure they stay relevant to the community.

The map uses an open beta version of MapMe.

We’ve also incorporated a Jobs board. This is for businesses in Sheffield and the surrounding area to post their own job vacancies, as long as they are tech related. So, as well as digital companies looking for digital people, you could be a digital business looking for a sales person, or an engineering company needing a java developer. You will need to create an account in order to post a job and we will be moderating accounts to make sure that posts are coming from actual businesses. Sorry recruitment agencies, but this is not for you.

If you’re a freelancer and you want to let companies know that you are available for work, please use the #_freelancers channel on the Slack team.

It’s also now easier to sign up to the Slack team using the ‘Request an invitation’ form when you choose the Slack logo in the website banner.

Over time, we hope that the data that we can gather from the map and the jobs pages will provide us with hard evidence of the size and scope of Sheffield’s digital economy.
