We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst to join our IT Services team at the University of Sheffield. In this role, you will play a vital part in a large-scale enterprise transformation programme as we transition from legacy SAP ECC to modern, new platforms.
The ideal candidate:
- You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, comfortable investigating and interpreting data issues using tools like SQL and Excel.
- You are a clear communicator, able to translate technical data findings for non-technical stakeholders and build effective working relationships across business and IT teams.
- You bring strong attention to detail when spotting data anomalies.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP ECC), data migration, or a background in HR, finance, procurement, or expenses data would all be an advantage, though not essential.
- You’ll turn messy legacy data into clean, migration-ready assets.
- You’ll gain exposure to enterprise-wide systems change and a genuinely visible role in the programme’s success, backed by dedicated mentoring and professional learning schemes.

The department
- You will join the IT Services team within Professional Services, working directly under our SAP Development Team Leader. We are a crucial engine room driving a major digital evolution at the University of Sheffield, a world top 100 university.

The role and its potential:
- This role has been created to support a high-profile, large-scale enterprise transformation programme. Your main mission is to help us smoothly transition from legacy SAP ECC to modern target platforms across HR, finance, procurement, and expenses.
- In this dynamic role, you will analyse data, identify system issues, and work with business and IT stakeholders to resolve them.
- This is a fantastic opportunity to build your skills in complex data migration, data mapping, and systems integration, working alongside experienced Senior Data Analysts on complex issues while operating independently on your own defined areas.
- You will see the direct results of your data cleansing and validation work as it shapes the University’s future operations.
